No casino till next year after veto
Chicago will have to wait for their casino and gambling expansion in the state after Governor Pat Quinn vetoed the bill until next year.
That means no hope for Arlington racecourse to get the 1,000 plus slot machines they wanted and the much hoped for in Chicago also.
There was only some six hours left on Friday 31st May when Senator Bob Rita filed the bill, and with so little time left it was left out in the cold for the final session of the spring session.
Lawmakers have approved similar gambling plans each of the last two years, but they’ve always been vetoed by the Governor.
As we reported over the last few months unless lawmakers handled the $100 billion debt in state pensions, Governor Pat Quinn was always going to veto the bill.
