Tabcorp ask competitions regulator for permission on Tatts merger

Tatts groupTabcorp have officially made an application to the Australian Competition Tribunal for it to proceed with their planned merger with the Tatts Group.

“Through our extensive discussions with stakeholders since announcement of the transaction, it has become increasingly clear that there is broad-based support among our stakeholders for the proposed combination with Tatts,” said Tabcorp managing director and CEO, David Attenborough.

The Tatts Group and Tabcorp, two of Australia’s biggest gambling firms have been in discussions over a merger since November 2016 and at one stage halted talks on a merger but re-ignited those discussions when overseas operators looked at Tatts Group for an acquisition prompting Tabcorp again into the merger.
