Star Entertainment Sues Gambler For A$43 Million In Gambling Debts

Australian casino company Star Entertainment Group is suing one of its high end VIP gamblers for 43 million Australian Dollars in gambling debts.

Back in July 2018 The Star Group flew the Singaporean Dr Wong Yew Choy to their casino Gold Cost casino and during his time there racked up debts of the amount claimed.

However the gambler says that the debt said be wiped out as mistakes were made by dealers while he was gambling costing him those losses.

The debt is understood to have been amassed over a five day period and when the gambler finished handed the casino a blank cheque and told them to fill in the amount owed.

However when Dr Wong arrived back in Singapore he instructed his bank not to honour the cheque because of the errors made by the casinos dealers.

A spokesperson for Star said the business was pursuing the debt ‘vigorously’.

‘The Star is disappointed the situation involving Wong Yew Choy has forced us to escalate the matter to the Singapore High Court,’ they said.
