New Jersey Gets Green Light – But Who Will Come?
Although casinos in New Jersey can reopen from Thursday 2nd July it is certainly not clear if those nine casinos want to open. With restrictions in place such as only 25% of normal capacity allowed, there is no alcohol allowed, no smoking and no food to be served or eaten on premises.
With restrictions like that on top of operators having to provide increased health and safety for customers, it is unclear if it is really worth opening after three months of lockdown.
The most popular and profitable casino in New Jersey has already said it will not reopen when allowed to by Governor Phil Murphy come this Thursday and will wait till conditions improve further before considering to open up for business.
However after meetings by top executives from all the other casinos such as: Tropicana, Ocean, Golden Nugget and Hard Rock, Harrah’s, Caesars and Bally’s have decided to open either on Thursday or Friday this week.
It is a difficult time for all in New Jersey with staff not earning any money for months and the call made to reopen by operators is a risk with strong restrictions in place will customers want to come back to gamble and be able to enjoy themselves?
