Call For Gaming Machines Removal In Holland
Dutch arcade operator Family Entertainment Centers Nederland, which operates some 70% of all gaming arcades in the Netherlands has said that it plans to remove all gambling focused machines and rely solely on family orientated games.
The operator said that currently it has a wide range of games for families to play which include skill games, air hockey, pinball and other similar type games the whole family can play, however it also has games of chance that are illegal for children under 18 to play. This says the operator will be removed and will not order any further games of chance in its arcades.
The move has been supported by regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), which recognises it is difficult to enforce and monitor minors playing on those machines.
It now has called on the government to legislate against those machines in family orientated arcades, however games of chance that allow for prizes instead of cash will still be available.
According to the regulator KSA it said that the current 1964 laws on such games need to be updated as the country has seen a big rise in the number of family based arcades over recent years.
