Penn National Gaming Helps With $1 Million Donation

Pennsylvania
A donation of $1 million has been made by Penn National Gaming to the Barstool Fund in Pennsylvania to help local businesses struggling with the global pandemic.
The fund was the brainchild of Dave Portnoy who is the founder of Barstool Sports who Penn own a 36% share of following a deal last year of $163 million to acquire a stake in the company by Penn.
Portnoy started the fund with a $500,000 donation from his own pocket and now with Penn donating has raised over $18 million.
The fund will help those small businesses in and around Pennsylvania that have been so badly effected by the continued lockdowns in the state which only this week saw the latest one end.
When setting up the fund Portnoy said: “I’ve been ranting and raving about the plight of small businesses. How do you expect these people to survive? Nobody seems to care in the government. No plan, no relief, no bailout.”
