Warning Of Three Years In Jail For Oman Gamblers

Oman is coming down hard towards online gamblers, the country on the south eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia, with a population of nearly 5 million has just issued a warning to its residents.

In an announcement by the countries prosecutor saying that anyone found to be using the internet for gambling purposes faces a jail term of three years and a fine.

In the full statement it said: “Using the internet or means of information technology to gamble or to produce, disseminate, distribute, purchase or possess anything that construes or an attack on public morality, violates the same or promotes programs, ideas or activities that construe the same, is an offense punishable by imprisonment for a period that extends to three years and a fine up to OMR 3,000 or by either one of these two sentences.”
