The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement announced that first quarter gross operating profits rose to $95 million that is three times more than the same period in 2020, given that casinos were closed down in March last year it was no surprise.

Eight out of nine casinos all showed an increase in profit for the quarter except for Bally’s who posted an operating loss. However if you showed a full comparison given that March 2020 was affected by the close down due to the COVID-19 pandemic then profits were up 11%.

Last week local government officials lifted restriction on capacity within casinos and operators are hoping for a second quarter bounce now they are allowed at full capacity.

Within the online sector in Atlantic City Golden Nugget Online Gaming took the lead with profits of $7.9 million up almost 24% compared to last year with Caesars Interactive Entertainment NJ second with 44.5 million rising 20% and in third Resorts Digital earned nearly $4.3 million which is up a massive 59% in comparison to 2020 figures.
