Playtech have had a rather interesting few months with the long drawn out deal that was approved by senior management for Aristocrat the Australian gaming manufacturer to acquire the company for some £2.7 billion ultimately failed to gain shareholder approval.

That was followed by rumours that a group of Asian investors were ready to come in for an offer for the igaming technology company, however that so far has no materialised but now according to a new report covered by the Times newspaper that the reason for both failing is the deal Playtech has with its Latin American partner Caliplay.

Playtech has a deal that is able to covert profits from Caliplay into equity worth some 39% and that Caliplay is rumoured to be preparing a listing in the US that would potentially value the company at £2.5 billion.

Should that be correct Playtech could see a return of £700 million plus, should that be the case it is understandable why shareholders refused the Aristocrat deal in preparation for a windfall should Caliplay eventually does list in the US.

News of this saw Playtech shares rise over the last few days by more than 2% valuing the company at £2.5 billion.
