Massachusetts Goes For March Madness for Online Sports Betting

Massachusetts are set to go March Madness as the states Gaming Commission has provisionally has slated the 10 March as the day online sports betting is allowed. Retail sports betting began in January and already two of the three operators could have fallen foul of regulators by taking un-approved bets, Plainridge Park Casino and Encore Boston Harbor casino are under investigation by the regulator to see if they accepted bets on sporting event that are now permitted.
However that is not stopping the process of online sports betting launching in March just before the Basketballs NCAA championship which is regarded as the second biggest betting event behind the Super Bowl.
Massachusetts Gaming Commission, Executive Director Karen Wells said: “I’m proposing a tentative launch date for the Category 3 mobile operators, or online operators, of March 10. The suggestion is we do it that date because it gives us the weekend if there’s any issues before March Madness starts, and then there’s a Monday where we could have a Commission meeting if necessary if there’s any issues before the big tournament starts. The recommendation is that we start at 10 am. There are some events that folks might want to wager on, on March 10 itself, so that’s why the recommendation came down.”
