Live sports streaming platform DAZN which is run by gambling industry veteran Shay Segev has told the Times newspaper that the company plans to rival Sky Sports, Amazon Prime and BT Sport for rights to stream Premier League matches when the bidding comes around.

The next auction for rights to screen premier league matches is 2025 to 2028 but the bidding process start next year.

DAZN which has around 20 million subscribers has only a small presence in the UK sports market covering mostly live boxing although it does have the exclusive rights to screen Italian Serie A football in a deal worth €840 million per season.

Last year DAZN announced it was to launch its own sports betting platform and it would seem logical that the company would want to high profile its offering with elite premier league football matches.

In the interview with the Times Segev said, “Football is obviously very big in the UK and EPL is an option on our menu. If the question is do we have any ambition to go to this market, the answer is of course yes. And it’s not only ambition it’s a high priority on my list.”
