Baccarat the hero for Nevada August revenues
August was a good month for Nevada gaming in general with baccarat the hero of the month pushing up revenues. The Gaming Control Board announced Monday 30th August that total revenues were up 11.2%, representing $955.3 million compared to $859.3 million for the period in 2012.
The most impressive figure was baccarat which accounted for 69% of the revenue rise across the state.
The main Vegas strip had a strong month from other table games, with revenue from those increasing by 21.5%
“While baccarat is clearly the star of the month, domestic play exhibited encouraging trends,” Deutsche Bank gaming analyst Carlo Santarelli told investors.
Interestingly the actual amount bet on baccarat fell by 1.3% to $1 billion but results for the house were improved, some observers say this was because July was bad for operators on the game and this is just a rebound on those figures.
In the fledgling online poker business in Nevada figures for the month show that revenues were at $600,000 although no data has been given yet on results currently.
