Bet365 & Sportsbet Under Investigation of Possible AML Breaches

Bet365 and Sportsbet are under investigation by the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (AUSTRAC) for possible failings in anti-money laundering and potentially breaking counter-terrorism financing laws.

The announcement follows AUSTRAC also in September said it was investigating Entain also, those results have not yet been announced.

The regulator said it would appoint independent auditors to conduct the review of both Bet365 and Sportsbet, when both companies were informed on Wednesday this week and also told that they would pay for the investigation costs.

Nicole Rose the Chief Executive of AUSTRAC, said on the latest investigations, “AUSTRAC will not hesitate to take action where suspected non-compliance is identified, to protect businesses from being exploited and protect the Australian community from harm.”
