Camelot Has Major Opposition To Bid For National Lottery
The National Lottery Operator Camelot is in a war to fight for the right to continue to operate the UKs lottery come the 2023 bidding process.
It is reported that several companies are now considering to run again Camelot who are owned by the Ontario Techers Pension Plan (OTPP).
Camelot has already said it will again bid to retain its license but now it is understood that Richard Desmond the former Daily Express Newspaper owner and currently operates the rival and smaller lottery service The Health Lottery.
Desmond says that The National Lottery have “lost its way” under the guidance of Camelot and he would be able to offer more funding to good causes along with taking the lottery back into British hands.
However it does not seem like it is just a two wat fight with Richard Branson, the Virgin Group founder who fought against Camelot for the license in 1994 and 2000 considering to make a new bid. Also in the running reports say are Novamedia, the Dutch business who currently run The Peoples Postcode Lottery, also Sazka the large European Lottery Operator and French giant, Française des Jeux (FDJ), they have just been privatised in France having been a state lottery and is said to have major funds to make a bid for the UK lottery if it decides to throw its hat into the ring.
