King Candy CrushActivision Blizzard has announced it is purchasing King Digital Entertainment the makers of smash hit games like “Candy Crush & Candy Crush Saga” for $5.9 billion.

The US video game producer which produces games such as “Call of Duty” among many others said in a statement, “will create one of the largest global entertainment networks with over half a billion combined monthly active users in 196 countries.”

King has built up a huge following of fans for their games with some 474 million active users playing their games on Facebook, on Apps and other mobile networks. However with the Californian based Activision Blizzard now acquiring King the company believes it will be highly-complementary and would position it “as a global leader in interactive entertainment across mobile, console and PC platforms.”

Should competition regulators approve the deal it is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2016, no announcement on who would remain at King once the deal has been finalised.
