CEO Of Entain Announces Departure

Shay Segev

Shay Segev the Group CEO of Entain has announced his intention to step down from the company and join live streaming sports company DAZN. Segev took over as CEO back in July 2020 from long time boss Kenny Alexander and has caused something of a stir within the company with his announcement.

According to Entain who have been approached by MGM Resorts in a buyout that Segev will serve the remainder of his contracted six month notice.

In the announcement by Entain the company said: “Shay has a notice period of six months and will remain in his current role for that period or until a successor is in place. The Board, having considered succession issues on a regular basis, has a process well underway to find his successor.”

Segev said of his new opportunity, ‘I was offered a role which offers me a very different type of opportunity’. The new role will be that of joint-chief executive for DAZN that offers live streaming content focusing mainly on boxing but other sports also.

Entain Chairman, Barry Gibson said that the reason for Segev’s departure had nothing to do with the recent approach by MGM Resorts to acquire Entain but that will not stop rumours that it indeed has.

Gibson said of the departure of Segev, “We are sorry that Shay has decided to leave us but recognise that we cannot match the rewards that he has been promised.”
