Confusion Mounts Over TV Gambling Ban

Reports today that the UK’s largest betting companies have reached a deal to ban all advertising during sporting events on television is not correct according to the industries trade association, the Remote Gambling Association (RGA).

This morning the BBC announced that Bet365, Ladbrokes and Paddy Power among others had reached an agreement to voluntarily ban advertising during sporting events and only televised horseracing be allowed to have betting advertising because of the industries reliance on gambling firms.

It seems from reports within the RGA that no deal has yet been struck and if it were it would be for the following premier league season not this one due to already agreed advertising strategies by many of the large gambling firms.

Clarity on the news is needed and someone somewhere has got it wrong, is that the BBC or the RGA themselves, time will tell.
