Mid-June?

LICENSES in Spain are set to be handed out in June. This is the latest speculation coming from the director general of the Spanish online gambling regulator, Enrique Alejo. A Spanish gaming conference was reportedly told that processing the 59 applications is taking more time than expected.

It was also alleged that the licenses could be handed out by mid-June and that the rigorous requirements need to be carried out diligently.

The Spanish authorities have already taken this into account, recently extending the May 30 implementation deadline by a month. Most of Europe’s major gambling groups have applied for licensing.
