Dutch Online Gambling Delayed Again
Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the Dutch gambling regulator will have to continue to be the lawmaker for online gambling within the country until the The Remote Gambling Act comes into force which has again be delayed.
In a recent statement to the Lower House of parliament by Minister Dekker who has the task of introducing gambling policy said that because of the ongoing pandemic new gambling legislation covering online gambling will be delayed till 1st April this year.
However many gambling insiders involved in the Netherlands market believe this will again be delayed after April.
It was 2020 when the government said it would allow online gambling with new laws however that was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, then in October 2020 details on licensing applications were issued including rules and measures controlling online gambling for applicants.
That application process was supposed to take place in early 2021 but as stated there is now another delay and many believe that actual legalised online gambling in the country will not happen this year.
Should the actual April date happen then players in the country would have been able to play in October but any further possible delays and that 6 month application and testing period would certainly fall into 2022.
