February Positive Numbers For Gambling In Ohio
Ohio’s eleven casino and racino facilities contributed to an impressive total gross gaming revenue figure for the month of February. Numbers recorded delivered 12.7% up on the previous year, as the state continues its recovery towards pre-pandemic levels.
Indeed, The Buckeye State recorded its best ever February, with total GGR registering at $179m, a colossal $8m uplift on its previous best performance in 2020. This is all the more impressive given that the $171m generated two years ago landed in an environment un-blighted by the destructive knock-on consequences of the coronavirus crises. However, this month’s operations had a tangible advantage over last year, where gambling establishments were subjected to an overnight curfew.
Racino’s slightly outperformed their casino counterparts, with the latter falling short of the overall average improvement by delivering an 11% incline in revenue. Furthermore, the state’s most popular bricks-and-mortar betting location was the famous MGM Northfield Park Racino in the suburbs of Cleveland, where revenue eclipsed a staggering $22.4m.
Nevertheless, there were also strong returns amongst casino concessionaires. The top takings venue within this bracket was the Jack Cleveland Casino, coming closest to Northfield Park in the amalgamated standings by hitting a GGR figure just north of $20m.
With the legalization of sports betting a seemingly inevitable development at some stage this year, Ohio’s gambling sector looks set to receive a further shot in the arm. Industry analysts remain optimistic about the state’s future prosperity.
