Indiana Fails to Pass Online Gambling Bill

Indiana hoped that online gambling would be legalised during the 2023 legislative session. Still, a bill proposing such an endeavour failed to advance in the state legislature for various reasons.

The bill, proposed by Rep. Ethan Manning (R-Denver), sought to allow online table games and lottery within the state, focusing on consumer protection and responsible gaming that isn’t available when using black market services.

Despite the potential benefits of legalising online gambling, Manning never brought his proposal up for a hearing due to a lack of education amongst legislators on its importance. Furthermore, the expansion of iLottery was halted when lawmakers added language into state law requiring authorisation from the General Assembly before any such expansion was approved in Indiana.

Rep.
