Jamaica to have online gambling next year

Jamaica could be ready to join the online gambling sector within the next 12 months says the Ministry of Finance & Planning Horace Dalley.

In an interview with local newspaper the Jamaica Journal he said, “Internet gaming is happening right now in Jamaica, therefore, it is time that we make that progression to this methodology of gaming, as Jamaicans are already well-equipped with the devices to facilitate this.”

Bricks and mortar casinos in Jamaica have seen rising revenues over the years from $3.8 billion in 2012 to $4.5 billion in 2013 and politicians believe that introducing online gambling will boost revenues further.

With a population of 2.8 million the country is not only hoping for residents to play but for the country to offer a hub for online gambling operators to centre their operations on the island.
