Kalshi Sets Back-to-Back Daily Volume Records as Sector Trading Tops $9 Billion

Kalshi posted all-time daily notional volume highs on consecutive days over the first weekend of October, capping a stretch in which combined prediction-market trading surpassed $9 billion. The performance underscores the platform’s expanding dominance in a sector increasingly driven by sports contracts during the football season.
Record Pace Across the Weekend
The weekend of October 3–4 marked the fifth time Kalshi has reached $3 billion in notional trading volume in a single day and the 17th time it has exceeded $2 billion since the football season began. The back-to-back records follow the platform’s first $3 billion day, recorded on September 22, 2026, which capped a weekly total of $15.27 billion – then a 2026 high.
The milestone extends a period of sustained growth for the CFTC-regulated exchange. Over the 30-day period from September 4 to October 3, Kalshi traded $64.2 billion in contracts, representing approximately $15.3 billion in dollars paid. That figure accounted for roughly 78 percent of total prediction-market volume and increased 60 percent compared with the prior 30-day window.
Sports Contracts Remain the Primary Engine
Trading activity tied to sporting events continues to serve as the leading catalyst for volume across the sector. The pattern was evident earlier in 2026, when Kalshi recorded more than $1 billion in trading volume on Super Bowl Sunday – a daily record at the time and a 2,700 percent increase year-over-year, according to comments from CEO Tarek Mansour.
Growth has not been limited to headline events. Parlay-style contracts have contributed a substantial share of recent volume gains, and combined monthly volume across Kalshi and Polymarket rose from under $5 billion in September 2025 to more than $50 billion by July 2026, when the sector posted an all-time high of $50.6 billion, with Kalshi accounting for $37.7 billion.
Kalshi’s market share has widened considerably. Combined weekly volume across Kalshi, Polymarket US, and Polymarket International reached $19.46 billion in late September, with Kalshi holding an 80.5 percent share. Polymarket, by contrast, recorded its first monthly volume decline since August earlier in 2026, while Kalshi’s annualized volume – reported at $178 billion in May, after tripling over the preceding six months – has continued to climb.
