Kentucky Sports Betting Live Before Start of NFL Season
Kentucky lawmakers are aiming for the start of the NFL season to launch legal in-person sports betting to the Bluegrass state.
Monday saw Governor Andy Beshar approve new regulations set out by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission who will regulate the activity and be able to launch by 7th September and mobile betting will be allowed for all residents shortly after on the 28th September.
On signing the new regulations the Governor said the timeline was ambitious but reasonable with the state hoping to hit $23 million in taxable revenues this year alone.
Earlier this year lawmakers passed the sports betting bill that will see 9.7% tax rate on in-person sports betting and 14.35% in mobile betting.
Beshar said on Monday, “The odds were against us, but we were determined to get sports betting passed in Kentucky and we got it done, I want to see any freed-up dollars going to support public education, economic development, disaster recovery and other necessary projects.”
