Macau CNY Visitor Numbers Up Nearly Three Hundred Percent

Macau enjoyed something of a return to normal for the seven day lunar New Year celebrations with almost half a million visitors to the gambling capital of the world.

The Macao Government Tourism Office said that in total 451,047 had made the trip from mainland China and Hong Kong representing a 297% rise from last year, however the number was nowhere near pre-pandemic figures when in 2019 the lunar New Year then saw a record breaking 1.2 million visitors, however from responses from operators the number is better than hoped for and positive feelings are that 2023 will continue to recover lost ground over the past 2+ years of COVID.
