Macau Feb. Revenues Lower Than Expected
February revenues for Macau the worlds largest gambling hub were lower than hoped for especially after the January rise. The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau reported that Macau Casino saw a 5.7% rise in revenues compared to the same period in 2017.
January was the best rise in revenues for some four years with a huge rise of 36.4% and some believed that rate of revenue rise would not be sustainable in February even given the Chinese Lunar New Year Holidays.
The results received mixed reviews with observers equally calling that revenue growth would be lower and those calling the recovery in February to be above expectations.
In the end the results came in on the medium side, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange reacted to the news by seeing a slight drop in share price for the major Macau operators.
