Macau
The Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau reported that March saw a small decline on revenues for the gaming industry there by 0.4% year on year. However that is much higher than analyst’s predictions of a fall in revenues of between 3% to 6%, the reason for the higher revenues was the mass market segment of business was much higher than expected helping to prop up the numbers.
In total revenues for Macau casinos hit $3.2 billion for March, but so far for 2019 revenues are now down compared to the same time in 2018 by 0.5%.
The figures so far for the year are no surprise to operators as one of the leading figures in Macau gambling, Lawrence Ho the boss of Melco Resorts said that the industry there did not expect that 2019 would be up compared to the previous year.
