Major Casino Operators Show Interest In Athens Casino Development
The former Hellinikon Airport in Athens Greece which is the site of a proposed Casino Integrated Resort along with a sports complex, retail outlets, business district and other leisure facilities has attracted some big names from the Casino Industry.
So far Las Vegas Sands, Caesars, Melco, Hard Rock and Mohegan Gaming have contacted the Hellenic Gaming Commission to register their interest and request more information on the proposed development.
Currently the proposal for an Integrated Resort along with other developments on the site is in consultation period which ends on the 10th September, at which time it is expected that a formal invite for proposals will be made to casino operators to apply.
The Greek government are looking for some €8 billion in private investment on the site and the casino resort investment at some €1 billion. Melco Resorts won the right to develop the first casino resort in Cyprus for €500 million and it seems the company are now actively pursuing a mainland project also.
