No longer Melco Crown as the Australian based operator sells remaining shares

Melco International Development the overseas arm of Lawrence Ho’s Melco Crown Entertainment the Macau casino resort operator, has signed a signed a memorandum of understanding with Veremonte Espana of Spain to discuss the possibility of them managing one of the casinos being developed by Veremonte near Barcelona.
This is another sign that the Macau based company are looking to spread their wings outside of the world’s largest gambling hub following the recent announcement that the company is investing more into the eastern Russian development casino resort which is to the north of China.
The latest signing in Barcelona apart from casino will have 10,000 hotel rooms, an exhibition and meeting center and up to 5,000 residential units, in what is hoped to become the major entertainment center in Europe in the coming years.
With partner James Packer Melco is also looking to enter the soon to be legalised Japanese gambling market, all the signs are clear the Lawrence Ho wants to take his brand of casinos global in the next few years.
