MGM Resorts Losing 15% Revenue A Day Due to Cyber Attack

According to analysts MGM Resorts could be losing somewhere in the region of $4 million to $8.5 million in revenue a day while they are suffering a cyber attack on their systems.

The casino giants hospitality and casino operations  in the US could be losing somewhere in the region of 15% each day the attack closing down their operating systems.

MGM is entering the second week of having many of its operating systems shut down due to a cyber attack by hacker group BlackCat who have claimed responsibility. The casino operator has still seen its hotel booking reservation system offline and is offering cancellations or date changes without any charge to customers. But it is also seeing many gamblers unable to cashout winnings as MGM casino systems remain mostly shut down.

Caesars Entertainment also said it had suffered a cyber attack and it is believed to be the same hacker group but according to reports the company paid a $15 million ransom to the hackers to regain control of its systems.

It is believed that although Caesars paid the ransom MGM are trying to fight off paying but rumours within the company say that the ransom to gain control for MGM is much higher than that paid by Caesars.
