Sports betting has become the biggest cash cow the American gambling industry has seen in decades. Cashing-in on the fortunes it brings is American regional sports network NBC Sports Washington.

The news network, jointly owned and operated by NBCUniversal and Monumental Sports & Entertainment, has recently launched an alternative broadcast designed to facilitate in-game betting during games. One of the first games it plans to run on this new broadcast is the Washington Wizards versus the Milwaukee Bucks, scheduled for January 11th, 2019. Slated to be the first of eight betting-oriented games the network plans to cover, the broadcast is expected to feature free-to-play predictive contests with the winner walking away with $500 as the cash prize.

The game, named “Predict the Game,” will involve asking players 30 different questions of varying levels of difficulty, centered around the past and expected the performance of the Washington Wizards. Insiders at the network have confirmed that the predictive analysis will be backed by real-time sports betting statistical data. Information like odds, overs/unders and point spreads too will be incorporated to help players make their prediction.

The new in-game sports betting broadcast seeks to infuse more excitement to an already exciting sports betting arena. Given the surge in takers for sports betting across the country, NBCUniversal network insiders believe the in-game Wizards broadcast will be a giant player magnet for the company.

Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Monumental Sports & Entertainment, Zach Leonsis, believes the broadcast may be the turning point the network has been waiting for, to break into the big league. He confirmed that the sports betting broadcast would only get more advanced with each new game and the network hopes to create the ultimate 1.0 version by the end of 2019

As part of the launch, NBC Sports Washington has registered for two domains dedicated to in-game sports betting. The two domains – NBCSportsbook.com and NBCSportsSportsbook.com – are expected to go live soon.

With Washington DC has already passed the bill to legalize sports betting in the state and in particular the Capital One Arena and Nationals Park neighborhoods, NBC Sports Washington insiders expect a spike in viewership and engagement in the weeks to follow.

While the newly-launched in-game sports betting broadcast is the highlight of the network, the new The Daily Line sports betting radio show created and launched by NBC Sports on their NBC Sports Radio mobile app, too is said to bring in massive revenues for the network in 2019.
