New Chinese investor interested in Primorye casino resort

The gambling zone of Primorye in Russia one of only a handful of regions that are allowed to operate casinos has announced a new Chinese investor interested in developing tourism in the region.
Zhonghe Linhai investment group and its President Wang Wenli have already held meetings with the government officials there and have indicated they are very interested in developing a parcel of land some 263 hectares in the Primorye zone.
It is not known at what stage the agreement is at and if it will definitely go ahead but the Chinese company are very keen to develop there.
However the Chairman Wang Wenli said, “On the day of arrival in Vladivostok, we visited the first entertainment complex in Muravyinaya Bay and remained under the great impression not only from the casino, but also in general from the beauty of the place which was selected for the creation of the resort. It is important that the first complex was founded by Melco, a very well-known and respected company in China. For us, this is one of the indicators of the high status of this project.”
The news comes just after the Tigre de Cristal resort announced it is chopping the amount of gaming tables, slot machines and closing all of its poker rooms because of the competition from illegal casinos.
Gaming industry insiders still believe the current set up of gambling zones is flawed and an eventual return to national gambling will happen, what and how this would affect the far flung gambling zones then would most likely not be positive.
