Only Two Left For Yokohama Resort

Yokohama
The race for the integrated resort in Yokohama is now down to two companies it is being reported with both Sega Sammy and Shotoku effectively out the running.
According to analysts Shotoku does not have the scale and experience to run an integrated resort and Sega Sammy recently stating it would prefer to be a minority partner, to which there are none available.
So that leaves Melco Resorts and Genting Singapore the clear two frontrunners in a race that has seen many international operators leave the field open.
Only recently Galaxy Entertainment, the Macau based operator left the competition for Yokohama, indeed Yokohama has had its ups and downs in the integrated resort race itself, back in August last year it announced it was suspending the application to apply for an integrated resort, but now that process is back up and running.
Indeed the whole process for integrated resorts in Japan is really under question, initially they were supposed to be built in time for the Tokyo Olympics, but that process was delayed because of political opposition and even now the majority of public opinion is against casino resorts.
So Melco and Genting are left in the race but will Japan ever see an casino resort is still very much up for debate.
