Ontario iGaming Market Reaches Record $7.1 Billion Handle in July

Ontario’s regulated online gaming sector achieved a new record in monthly wagers during July, recording CAD 9.88 billion (approximately USD 7.1 billion) in total handle. According to performance figures published by iGaming Ontario (iGO), total wagering volume increased by 4 percent compared to June. Non-adjusted gross gaming revenue (NAGGR) – the total revenue retained by operators prior to deducting promotional credits, taxes, and operational costs – grew by 3 percent month-over-month to reach CAD 413.6 million. The expansion was accompanied by a 3 percent increase in active player accounts, which reached 1.365 million for the month.

Sector Performance by Gaming Vertical

The record handle was driven primarily by sustained growth in online casino gaming, which remains the primary revenue driver within the jurisdiction.

  • Online Casino (iCasino): Online casino products, including slots, table games, and live dealer titles, generated CAD 8.78 billion in wagers. This represents a 6 percent increase from June and comprises 89 percent of total market handle. The vertical produced CAD 330.4 million in NAGGR, accounting for 80 percent of overall operator revenue.

  • Sports Betting: Sports wagering handle totaled CAD 992 million, marking a 4 percent decline from June and representing 10 percent of total market handle. Operator revenue from sports betting decreased by 1 percent to CAD 77.8 million, forming 19 percent of total market NAGGR. Activity in the vertical was supported in part by late-stage wagering on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which concluded in mid-July.

  • Peer-to-Peer Poker: Peer-to-peer poker handle reached CAD 116 million, representing 1 percent of total wagers and declining 8 percent month-over-month. Poker NAGGR increased by 3 percent to CAD 5.3 million, maintaining a 1 percent revenue share.

Operator Ecosystem and Market Dynamics

The province’s commercial market currently includes 48 licensed operators managing 83 active gaming websites. Platform expansion continued during the period with the entry of major commercial brands, including the launch of Hard Rock Bet in late July and DAZN Bet in late June.

Despite the increase in total active player accounts, the average revenue per active account remained stable at CAD 303, matching the figure recorded in June. Year-over-year metrics indicate that while active participation continues to rise, individual spend per account has moderated compared to prior reporting periods.
