CEO Jay Snowden highlighted the company’s strategic execution during the quarter. “We continued to execute against our 2026 strategic priorities this quarter, delivering Segment Adjusted EBITDAR growth, optimizing corporate overhead, growing cash flow, and deleveraging the balance sheet”. The record retail segment revenues benefited from strong portfolio performance, including four recently completed development projects.
Penn Entertainment posted earnings of $0.44 per share for the quarter, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.35 per share and representing a 25.71% earnings surprise. This compares to earnings of $0.10 per share in the same quarter last year. The company reported a net income loss of $32.6 million for the period.
Two major properties opened in June 2026: the new hotel tower at Hollywood Columbus and the new Hollywood Casino Aurora. Snowden noted that early trends at both properties showed encouraging signs, including strong visitation from VIP players.
David Katz, an analyst with Jefferies, stated the results exceeded expectations, with retail delivering consensus beats in three of four regions and an Adjusted EBITDAR guidance range that surpassed the magnitude of the beat by $31 million. Katz observed that the interactive segment also showed continued operational progress.
The regional portfolio demonstrated varied performance across Penn Entertainment’s four geographic operating segments during the second quarter. The Northeast segment generated $731.6 million in revenue, marking a 2.8% increase from $711.6 million in the prior year period. This region maintained its position as the company’s largest revenue contributor.
By comparison, the Midwest segment posted $320.6 million in revenue, representing 7.9% growth over the $297.0 million recorded in Q2 2025. The West segment brought in $151.5 million, up 10.0% from $137.7 million year-over-year. Regional strength emerged in Ohio and St. Louis, along with positive performance at the L’Auberge Lake Charles property.
The South segment reported $301.9 million in revenue for the quarter, relatively flat compared to $302.2 million in the same period last year. Weather events in December negatively impacted Segment Adjusted EBITDAR by approximately $7.0 million, though core business trends remained stable across the portfolio outside of these disruptions.
Looking ahead, the company expects continued momentum from the new hotel tower at M Resort in Las Vegas and the new Hollywood Casino Joliet. Both properties are capturing demand from new and reactivated customers, with planned late second quarter openings for the Hollywood Columbus hotel tower and the landside relocation of Hollywood Casino Aurora.
Interactive segment performance delivered $349.40 million in revenue for the quarter, including a tax gross-up of $185.50 million. The segment encompasses online sports betting, online casino/iCasino operations, social gaming, retail sports betting management, and media properties. Penn Entertainment reported an Adjusted EBITDA loss of $9.50 million for the interactive division, representing meaningful year-over-year improvement.
Snowden addressed the digital business trajectory during the earnings announcement. “Our Interactive segment remains on track to deliver upon our previously stated goals, supported by growth in U.S. iCasino and Canada”. The statement reflects operational momentum across the company’s digital gaming platforms.
Katz noted the interactive division’s progress in his analysis of quarterly results. “Interactive also showed continued operational progress”. The segment delivered another quarter of substantial Adjusted EBITDA improvement compared to prior year performance.
The interactive business operates alongside Penn Entertainment’s retail portfolio, providing diversified revenue streams across both physical and digital gaming channels. Revenue figures incorporate promotional tax credits required in certain jurisdictions where the company maintains online gaming operations.
