Philippine regulator revokes 124 online licenses in gambling crackdown

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR) has cancelled 124 online gaming licenses since July this year and is highly unlikely to accept any others.

Since the newly-elected Philippine President’s declaration that he wants to cease all online gambling the regulator come operator PAGCOR has started to restrict online gaming.

Rodrigo Duterte took over the presidency in June this year and said he wanted to outlaw online gambling to Philippine nationals

Not only this bur PAGCOR is expected to shut down the 302 online gaming parlours currently operating in the country and 324 online bingo outlets that Philippine nationals play on every day.

Andrea Domingo, the newly appointed PAGCOR CEO, said at said recently that her company could lose around PHP10 billion due to the license cancellations.

At present, PAGCOR operates 11 casinos around the country, with those having 45 satellite facilities. It also regulates 11 privately held gambling venues. The regulator/operator reported net income of PHP2.5 billion for the first half of the year, up 2.5% year-on-year.
