Responsible Gambling Bill Introduced in New York

New York
A new bill that would increase responsible gambling for operators and advertisers has been introduced in New York by state Senators Lery Comrie and supported by Luis Sepúlveda that would require all gambling and sports betting adverts to carry a warning on the potential harm and addictive effects of gambling.
Bill 1550 if passed would require “the state gaming commission to cooperate with the commissioner of addiction services and supports to ensure that all advertisements for gaming activity state a problem gambling hotline number.”
At present the Bill has no timeframe for discussions and a vote to enter it into law but observers in gambling in the US believe that the Bill would not have any issues going forward as responsible gambling within the US needs to be aligned with other more mature gambling regions around the World such as the UK where gambling warnings to all adverts are law.
It is thought that should the Bill enter into law the impact on operators revenues and advertising spend would not be severely impacted.
