Inside the Soul Casino
Independent casino Owner Granite Rock has closed its operation in Aberdeen, The Soul Casino in Union Street has announced it has shut permanently saying on its website:
“It is with a heavy heart that Granite Rock Casino Ltd can confirm it has made the decision to close the doors of Soul Casino. We are proud to have operated Scotland’s only independent, family-owned casino for over 12 years, and this decision was not made lightly.”
Declining visitor numbers to the casino has been cited over recent times and the casino which opened twelve years ago has failed to ever make a profit according to papers filed at Companies House, in fact last year the casino posted a loss of £500,000.
The business employed some 40 staff and hopes are that they will find similar work in the area, however people close the the industry in Scotland say that pressure on casino operators in the current climate is very tough and believe that The Soul Casino won’t be the last casino to close.
