South Korean Casino Resort Pushed Back To 2023

The developers of the new South Korean casino resort near to Seoul’s international airport called the Inspire Entertainment Resort in Incheon said it has raised some $15 billion in financing for the resort.

Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment also said that it has been given permission to extend the development from originally completion of 2022 to 2023 because of the effect of the global pandemic on construction.

Phase 1 of the resort is said to be 12% completed and once completed will have three 5 star hotels, a 15,000 seated arena, a large convention centre and a foreigner-only casino.

James Gessner Jr., Chairman of The Mohegan Tribe and MGE Management Board said: “We have a proven track record in developing and operating leading integrated entertainment resorts in North America with our successes in Connecticut, Las Vegas and Niagara Falls, and we look forward to taking this success abroad as the first American IR launched in Korea.”

Also Bobby Soper, International President for MGE said on the future for the resort: “We anticipate a significant rebound in the tourism and leisure industry following the pandemic, and we look forward to contributing to the Korean economy while at the same time opening and operating a successful, state-of-the-art resort. I’m thrilled to see our international vision for IR development reach this important milestone.”
