Swedish Online Restrictions See A Drop Of 30% In Revenues

Online gambling operators in Sweden are seeing a sizeable decline in revenues since July following the introduction of new restrictions towards deposit and bonus offerings.

According to reports revenues are down some 30% since the measures were introduced in July which the government said that deposits per customer should not exceed SEK5,000 per week and not bonus offerings by operators should exceed SEK100 to any one customer.

The Swedish government brought in the new regulations to protect players during the COVID-19 pandemic which lawmakers feared a huge rise in online gambling. The regulations are not supposed to be permanent but operators fear they could be.

However with the re-introduction of elite sports in Sweden and through Europe sports betting operators are reporting an uptick on revenues.
