Tabcorp Post Modest Growth for H1 2026

Tabcorp Holdings reported a modest revenue increase of 1% for the first half of the 2026 financial year, amounting to AU$1.34 billion, compared to AU$1.31 billion in the same period last year.

In the July to December 2025 period, Tabcorp’s revenue growth was primarily driven by its Wagering and Media division, which encompasses both retail and online betting platforms. The division’s revenue rose by 0.8%, reaching AU$1.25 billion, up from AU$1.24 billion the previous year. Domestic wagering revenue saw a 1.1% increase, indicating a steady demand for betting services despite a saturated market.

While revenue growth was modest, Tabcorp’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) experienced a significant boost, climbing 14% from AU$190.2 million to AU$217.4 million. This increase can be attributed to improved cost management strategies that enhanced the EBITDA margin by 16%.

Profit Projections

As the company closed its first-half accounts, it projected a net profit after tax of AU$35.7 million. This figure reflects the company’s ability to navigate a competitive landscape while implementing effective financial strategies. Additionally, Tabcorp successfully renegotiated terms on its debt bonds, reducing the debt ratio to 1.5x, with existing debt standing at AU$631 million.

Tabcorp’s leadership, under the guidance of Managing Director and CEO Gillon McLachlan, has outlined a clear focus for the second half of the financial year. The company aims to execute its “evolved strategy,” which emphasizes operational consistency and enhanced capabilities. McLachlan stated, “Our 1H26 results highlight that we are a more consistent company, with greater capability.”

The impact of regulatory reforms in Victoria as state has implemented extensive changes to betting licenses, focusing on player protection, gambling harm prevention, and anti-money laundering measures. Tabcorp has acknowledged that excluding the effects of these reforms, domestic wagering revenue would have experienced a decline of 2.5%. However, the company is poised to benefit from a 20-year exclusive betting license set to commence in August 2024.
