Tory MP Joins Betting & Gaming Council

Conservative MP and prominent backbencher Laurence Robertson has agreed to work with UK gaming trade body The Betting & Gaming Council (BGC). Although no official announcement has been made by either Mr Robertson or the BGC a recent report says that the Tory MP joined the trade body at the start of October.

As with all MPs in the UK they are legally obliged to show all incomes and Mr Robertson has filed an income of £2,000 per month for 10 hours of work a month for the BGC.

According to the report the MP will be BCG’s parliamentary adviser on sport and safer gambling.

Robertson said he would not advocate for the betting industry, nor make submissions to the gambling review on behalf of the cross-party parliamentary on betting and gaming, of which he is a member.

Mr Robertson the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tewkesbury since 1997 has been a longstanding supporter of the horse racing and gambling industry.
