UK White Paper Contains Compulsory Gambling Levy

According to The Mail on Sunday gambling companies will made to pay a compulsory levy towards related gambling problems with funds going to the NHS. The newspaper claims that the long overdue Gambling White Paper that is recommending that unlike currently gambling companies pay contributions to problem gambling programmes which vary greatly from company to company there will now be a fixed levy, exactly how much and whether it be on revenues or profits has not been mentioned.

At present the NHS refuses to accept voluntary contributions from gambling companies but will an enforced levy proposed according to the newspaper the NHS would be imposed to accept.

Over the last two years the review on gambling has been announced many publications have speculated on the contents of the White Paper from fixed limits on slot games to banning advertising.

The latest expectation of the publication of the White Paper was before the Easter Holidays which are less than a week away and it seems that this latest deadline will pass without seeing the contents once more.
