Ukraine Regional Prosecutor Arrested For Taking Bribes In Illegal Online Gambling

As Ukraine gears up for the return of gambling in the country following President Volodymyr Zelensky permitting land based casinos and online gambling reports have come out of the country that a regional prosecutor and leading police chief have been charged with taking bribes of illegal online gambling companies.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained a local prosecutor from Smila Raion region of Ulkraine along with a head of regional police there on charges of accepting bribes worth $1,700 from a local underground online gambling business.

Security services say the pair were paid to turn a blind eye to illegal online gambling activities in the area, it is not clear if either arrested have admitted their guilt and whether any other officials in the area are implicated, according to news in Ukraine the investigation is still ongoing.
