Virginia’s Casinos Surge in July Revenue

Richmond Virginia

Virginia’s casino industry had a successful July, surpassing $50 million in revenue and generating $57.3 million. Giving a positive sign for the state’s gambling sector and sets the stage for future growth.

Leading the way is Rivers Casino Portsmouth, Virginia’s largest casino, which made $22.4 million in revenue. With its large facility featuring 1422 slot machines and 81 table games, Rivers Casino Portsmouth has become the preferred destination for gamblers and entertainment seekers.

But Rivers Casino Portsmouth isn’t the only standout. Caesars Danville Casino generated $21.4 million in revenue from its diverse gaming offerings. Since opening in Danville on May 15, Caesars Casino has attracted patrons with its 767 slot machines and 25 table games, transforming the entertainment scene in the region.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Bristol achieved a total gaming revenue of $13.5 million. With 908 slots and 29 table games, it has established itself as a premier destination for those seeking a thrilling gaming experience.

Several factors have contributed to the success of Virginia’s casinos. The gradual reopening of establishments after pandemic-related closures has injected new life into the industry. Virginia’s growing popularity as a tourist destination has also attracted visitors to the state’s casinos. The recent legalization of casino gambling in Virginia has provided a boost to the local economy, generating substantial tax revenue for the state.

In July, the three Virginia casinos paid a combined $10.3 million in taxes to the Gaming Proceeds Fund. This represents a 9.8% increase from the previous month, highlighting the industry’s growth. Virginia law ensures a fair distribution of funds, with each casino paying taxes based on their revenue. For instance, Caesars Virginia contributed $3,853,514.58, while Rivers Casino Portsmouth paid $4,023,767.30, and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Bristol made a tax payment of $2,435,989.62. These contributions support the local community and strengthen the state’s fiscal stability.

June was Caesars Virginia’s first full operational month, and the casino made an impact with its 767 slot machines and 25 table games, generating nearly $5.5 million in revenue.

The record-breaking performance of Virginia’s casinos in July can be attributed to their expansion and diversification of gaming offerings. Each casino has created an immersive and exciting experience for visitors, catering to all preferences. Whether it’s the excitement of slot machines or the strategy of table games, there is something for everyone.

Looking ahead, Virginia’s casino industry shows no signs of slowing down. With sustained revenue growth and increasing popularity, the state’s economy will benefit from this thriving sector. Virginia has firmly established itself as a premier entertainment and gaming destination. With the success of July, the future looks bright for Virginia’s casino industry, promising even greater achievements in the future.
