Watch App to control your car

Where will it all stop or indeed will it not, now Volkswagen, Mercedes and Volvo have joined BMW and Porsche in developing an App for your Apple Watch that will control certain functions of your car.
BMW iRemote
This application is destined exclusively for BMW i3 (a 100 per cent electric city car) and BMW i8 (a sport hybrid) owners. It allows them to control the level of their battery, but also to check that the doors are properly locked and to regulate the temperature inside the cabin.
Porsche Car Connect
Porche’s Car Connect offers practically the same features. Notably, there is access to driving statistics and to battery-charging status for hybrid vehicles, but it also allows you to know if the doors, windows and roof are properly closed and locked.
Volkswagen Car-Net
Finalized in the US, this app allows you to find your car and activate climate control remotely, but also to monitor autonomy status. It is only compatible with cars already equipped with the Car-Net system.
Mercedes MB Companion
The German manufacturer has announced its new app compatible with future C and S Class cars, known as the “MB Companion” and very different from those mentioned thus far. This is an app specialised in navigation that communicates with the car’s multimedia system to guide the driver.
The app is expected later in 2015.
Volvo On Call
Volvo is readying to launch a version of its On Call app compatible with the Apple Watch in order for its clients to be able to manage different controls related to their car, such as finding it or locking it, but also to preheat or cool the car, check the gas tank levels, mileage or the date of the next maintenance appointment.
The app will soon be updated for compatibility with the Apple Watch.
