West Virginia Online Casino Revenue Rebounds to $38.8 Million in September

West Virginia’s online casino market recovered in September 2026, with licensed operators generating approximately $38.8 million in revenue, according to data published by the West Virginia Lottery. The total represents a notable improvement over July, when the state’s iGaming sector posted $36.4 million – its weakest monthly performance of the year to date.

The September figures place West Virginia’s market back in line with the levels recorded earlier in 2026. Monthly revenue through the spring and early summer remained relatively stable: operators reported roughly $38.6 million in April, $39.5 million in May, and $38.7 million in June before the July dip. September’s result suggests the mid-summer softness was a temporary fluctuation rather than a sustained downturn.

The state’s iGaming sector has been among the fastest-growing in the country. Industry analyses indicate that full fiscal-year 2026 iGaming revenue reached approximately $439.2 million, an increase of more than 40 percent year-over-year. That growth follows a 2025 calendar year in which total online casino revenue in the state exceeded $375 million, per the American Gaming Association’s most recent state overview.

Competitive and Regulatory Structure

West Virginia’s interactive wagering market operates under the framework established by House Bill 2934, enacted in 2020, which permits the state’s racetrack casino license holders to partner with online operators. The market currently supports roughly ten live online casino brands, including major national operators such as BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, Fanatics, and Golden Nugget. Gross gaming revenue from iGaming is taxed at 15 percent, with proceeds directed to state programs.

Because the market is relatively small by national standards – West Virginia’s population of about 1.8 million is a fraction of that of multi-billion-dollar jurisdictions such as New Jersey and Michigan – the state’s monthly figures are more sensitive to promotional cycles, seasonal behavior, and operator bonuses. Analysts generally treat month-to-month swings in the several-million-dollar range as within normal variation.
