{"id":1185,"date":"2012-02-11T12:30:51","date_gmt":"2012-02-11T12:30:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cleverduckmedia.com\/media\/wordpress\/acta-halted-by-germany-2\/"},"modified":"2012-02-11T12:30:51","modified_gmt":"2012-02-11T12:30:51","slug":"acta-halted-by-germany-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gaming-awards.com\/NEWS\/acta-halted-by-germany-2\/","title":{"rendered":"ACTA Halted by Germany"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Polish MPs demonstrate against ACTA<\/p>\n<p>Germany has halted signing a controversial anti-piracy accord, the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (Acta), after the justice ministry voiced concerns.<\/p>\n<p>A foreign ministry spokesperson told AFP that the delay was to &#8220;give us time to carry out further discussions&#8221;. Latvia put off ratification on Friday. Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia have already delayed the process. <\/p>\n<p>International protests against the agreement are expected on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The Associated Press reports Germany&#8217;s that Justice ministry believes the legislation is unnecessary in Germany and that the European Parliament should vote on Acta before the country considers it for ratification.<\/p>\n<p>NEWS SPONSOR<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.betsoftgaming.com\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gaming-awards.com\/betsoft310x50.jpg\" alt=\"Please click here\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Anti-Acta websites currently list more than 50 protests scheduled to take place across Germany on Saturday. Last week about 2,000 people marched in the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana against Acta.<\/p>\n<p>In Janurary thousands of protestors took to the streets in Poland. Measures within Acta to tackle online piracy have proven particularly controversial. <\/p>\n<p>Previously &#8220;Hacktivists&#8221; claiming to act on behalf of Anonymous have attacked official websites supporting the international agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Supporters of the treaty argue that the measures are necessary to clamp down on growing levels of piracy.
