{"id":12011,"date":"2012-07-26T17:02:08","date_gmt":"2012-07-26T17:02:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gaming-awards.com\/NEWS\/?p=12011"},"modified":"2012-07-26T17:02:08","modified_gmt":"2012-07-26T17:02:08","slug":"uk-labour-party-against-gambling-expansion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gaming-awards.com\/NEWS\/uk-labour-party-against-gambling-expansion\/","title":{"rendered":"UK Labour Party against Gambling expansion"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_12013\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gaming-awards.com\/NEWS\/uk-labour-party-against-gambling-expansion\/edm\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-12013\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12013\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12013\" title=\"edm\" src=\"https:\/\/gaming-awards.com\/NEWS\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/edm-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-12013\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ed Miliband standing against new gambling proposals<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It seems that the Daily Mail Newspaper did not take long to rally their troops against the recent announcement from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gaming-awards.com\/NEWS\/parliamentary-report-on-gambling-gives-good-news-to-industry\/\" target=\"_blank\">parliamentary report on gambling <\/a>from MPs regarding revising the gaming laws in favour of the industry.<\/p>\n<p><em>Some of the points the report highlighted for change were:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recommending that the location of casinos and slot machines should be more relaxed.<\/li>\n<li>Local councils should be allowed to permit betting shops to operate more than four high-stake gambling machines, which can accept stakes of up to \u00a3100 and offer prizes of \u00a3500.<\/li>\n<li>Casinos should be allowed up to 20 of the machines and that local councils should decide on casino licenses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However the mail newspaper has brought out none other than <span>Ed Miliband, leader of the Labour Party to voice his concerns on the report, this new stance on gambling by the Labour party is not going to help the industry push forward with the report recommendations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Some\u00a0of Mr Milibands comments were;<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span>\u2018I\u2019m a casinos sceptic. I\u2019m sceptical about lots more casinos.
