\"dumb&dumber2\"<\/a>It could be scene out of new film Dumb and Dumber 2 but it was real life when two workers from a budget store in the UK decided to go after work with the stores takings for the day and bet it all on Red in a casino.<\/p>\n

The idea was that they thought they could easily double their (well the stores money) money then go and bank the takings and keep the profit, only one thing went wrong with the idea, that the colour black also exists on the roulette wheel.<\/p>\n

“Grossly stupid” duo Kieron Trott, 19, and Christopher Cameron, 48, were supposed to bank the \u00a33,380 taken by the Poundstretcher branch in Sunderland, that day, but decided they wanted to feel what “gambling on red” was like instead.<\/p>\n

Both of them were left to close up the store and then bank the takings in the local bank, however each of them laughed at first at the idea of making a quick buck by betting all the takings on red before going then to the bank. But it changed into shall we then to let\u2019s do it and so they did.<\/p>\n

In scenes “almost like something out of a comedy” according defence lawyer Ian Cassidy, the pair took the cash to a casino and started betting on red but the ball kept landing on black and blew the entire lot within minutes.<\/p>\n

According to reports they then phoned their boss and calmly told her to call the police before resigning last October.<\/p>\n

“They were seen transferring the cash into chips then go to the table saying red?’ and ‘yes’. Lo and behold it came up on black.”
\nJason Smith, defending Trott, said: “It was an act of gross stupidity. They were saying ‘let’s go and do this, we might make some money’.<\/p>\n

“How that would work is beyond me.”<\/p>\n

Lee Poppett, prosecuting, said: “At 9pm she received a call from Mr Trott stating that she needed to come back to the store because they had gambled away the takings.<\/p>\n

“She believed it was a form of joke, but Mr Trott said ‘I’m not joking, call the police’.<\/p>\n

Both men were found guilty and ordered to pay the entire sum back to the store along with court costs and each of them doing community orders in un-paid work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
